This is one of the worst domain names of all time. There has to be a story of how they made such a huge error of judgement, but I don't know it, so I'm going to make one up instead...
One day Mr Saunders is sitting in the plush head office of La Drape International Ltd, discussing the marketing strategy for his designer fabrics company with the management team.
"What we need is a website," pronounces young Finbarr excitedly. Finbarr loves the web, and would like nothing more than to design a site for his father's business.
"Interesting..." replies Daddy Saunders, "...what shall we call it?"
"On the Hyperweb you need a really short snappy name that people can remember," says Finbarr, hinting at a knowledge he does not possess. "How about ladrape.co.uk?"
"That's certainly short and snappy," says Mr S, "but won't it bring to mind forced buggery, like the stomach-curdling glasshouse scene in the film Scum?"
"Ha ha, no of course not," chortles Finbarr, "no one would think that! It's all about curtains!"
www.ladrape.co.uk
Lad Rape, sorry, La Drape, have a sister site called The Quilted Wall where they promote "bespoke fabric walling solutions to meet your wildest dreams." In other words, they glue duvets to the wall. Some things in this world defy all reason.
What's next for La Drape, a site selling leather drapery called beefcurtains.com? Or they could sell ceremonial tapestries at ritualhangings.com. Both good ideas (copyright Chief Slurler 2009).
Thanks to Tommo for finding this one.
